CIS Returns

CIS tax is the tax which applies to the Construction Industry Scheme and is applicable to most contractors working in the construction industry. The requirements can be complicated but with our experience and knowledge we can ensure you stay compliant. Let us calculate and submit your CIS returns and remove your administrative burden.

Your CIS compliance

Contractors must register for the scheme and file monthly CIS returns to HMRC. Under the scheme, contractors must deduct basic rate tax from subcontractor’s payments and pass the deduction onto HMRC on account, for the sub-contractor.

It is important to make submissions accurately and promptly to avoid HMRC enquiries and delays in re-payments due to sub-contractors.

Sub-contractors that do not register for the CIS run the risk of having tax deductions made at a higher rate. It is therefore advisable for sub-contractors to register under the CIS and complete an annual self-assessment tax return to claim any overpaid tax.

We assist contractors and sub-contractors alike

We make the registration and regular submission process simple and tailor it to your business. We help clients submit their CIS returns each month before the deadline so that they avoid penalties for late submission.

We can help you register, prepare and submit your annual self-assessment tax returns. This is important as most CIS sub-contractors initially 'over-pay' tax as the payments made on your behalf to HMRC do not allow for business expenses on things like tools and materials. We advise and assist you in deducting legitimate business costs, in turn increasing the size of the tax refund you are likely to receive.

We will perform all the necessary calculations on your behalf, allowing you to focus on what really matters, developing your business.
